Nestled for over 150 years in the heart of an authentic French rural countryside, well known for its knives, André VERDIER Cutlery blends tradition, know-how and R&D on a daily basis, in order to create chef’s knives, flatware, kitchen tools and pocket knives, offering a knife for everyone’s needs.
Garantor of a multi-centennial "savoir-faire" in Thiers’ cutlery making, André VERDIER Cutlery certifies that all its products are designed in France and takes pride in a 100% French manufacturing.
André VERDIER Cutlery draws its roots from the first half of the 19th century in a small workshop of forge detained by Antoine DELIGNERE, ancestor of the current owners.
Brought to forge knives for others, Antoine DELIGNERE decides, in parallel, to create and to market his own knives and registered, in 1859, the brand "LA BOTTE COURONNEE®".
At the beginning of the 20th century, Louis VERDIER (Smith) marries Françoise DELIGNERE (cutler) and both associate their know-how to make the family company prosper.
In 1924, Mr. and Mrs VERDIER bequeath the company to their sons, André and Albert, which work one time together in the “VERDIER brothers Cutlery”.
Then Albert decides, in 1936, to leave the company and lets André to manage the cutlery alone.
The company changes its name by becoming "André VERDIER Cutlery", and market its products under the old brands DELIGNERE®, LA BOTTE COURONNEE®, but also under the new ANDRINOX® et AV®.
At the beggining of 90’s, André VERDIER Cutlery evolves by acquiring one of the famous SABATIER brands : P.SABATIER®.
It also integrates new manufacturing processes and innovates on the famous LAGUIOLE knives and the colored handle flatware.
In 2003, André VERDIER Cutlery buy back SCOF® and BOUILLET BOURDELLE ( BB)® brands, tools and and processes, and so increases its production capacity and its position on the French market of cutlery industry where it is, today, one of the last ones to make 100 % of its articles in France.
